Why do some people insist on driving really slow? Don't they realise that driving in an over-cautious manner is as dangerous to other road users as driving like a maniac? People get so annoyed they get road rage and end up driving too close and erratically trying to get past. And those numpties who won't dare to go in the right hand lane on the approach to a roundabout when they are going straight on, why why why? And woe betide you if you dare to do this and then overtake them whilst on the roundabout!! Grr.... is it just me, or does this wind everyone up?

I need to just clarify something here, the layout of roundabouts is varied , some have two entry lanes and two exit lanes at every enter/exit point. so for example if you approach a roundabout in the right hand lane that has two clearly marked lanes on the exit that is straight across and the right hand lane you occupy as you enter the roundabout has arrows pointing straight on and right and the left hand lane has arrows pointing left and straight on , then you have every right to use the roundabout as I have stated. Obviously if your ext point is straight across and only has one lane, ie single carriegeway then yes you must be in the left hand lane on approach because the right hand approach lane is for turning right only. I am not talking about illegal driving here at all, so please don't answer thinking that I am some sort of iggnorant irresponsible driver with no concern for other road users.

And I am not in any way saying that I am driving in an illegal manner. I am talking about driving within the law here. I am talking about the sort of people who are unaware of the things that are 'allowed' and within the highway code .

Steph , I think you need to study a currant copy of the highway code. What I am saying is perfectly legal, if it wasn't, then mr policeman driving behind me this morning as I went through a roundabout as I did, in heavy traffic, was a very naughty man. I think my first post was a bit vague regarding the roundabout layout . sorry.

That was current not currant! LOL! Just another of my pet hates!

I've just been out and the particular roundabout where my niggle always happens is having it's white lines repainted (maybe to indicate to the more unaware drivers out there, just what IS a perfectly acceptable maneouvre!!?) so there is only one lane onto and off every exit! Argh..... the traffic was backed up from every exit and my journey took me twice as long as normal! Bummer!

manoeuvre.....maneouvre? Hmm need to check this in the dictionary! LOL!

I drive mainly in London, and that is one of the things that really wind me up.

The art of being a good driver is to show consideration to other road users and not cut them up on roundabouts.I would not trust the road markings on a roundabout, they are only a guide. You as a competent driver should know how to plan your approach and exit.Whilst I am writing this I am looking down on a roundabout, if you approach in the right hand lane, you'll end up in the middle. Very poor design, but what do you expect from a Local Authority that puts in speed humps smaller than the potholes!!.

I am sure when I took my driving test the Highway code stated that the left lane at a roundabout is for turning left or going straight on and the right lane is for turning right?
If I am wrong then I am guilty of being a "numptie" lol

Well, my pickup is really geared down low and 45 is all the faster it can go. It is a legal factory build, meets all the laws and passes inspection. You are out of luck buster, or if you want, run into it hehe. Furthermore, I will drive in the fast lane if the exit is from the fast lane. A few folks have tried to run me off the road but so far they are the ones who have landed in the ditches. Get over it.

Oh GOD I hate that. Especially when I'm trying to get to work at 7:30AM and there is some jackass driving slow just so he can look at the construction workers on the side of the road, and everyone else slows down as a caution since they think something major is happening that you have to slow down for(like a car crash or something). I want to stab all of them in the eyes.

Going past the accident on the M40 this morning, and it was the other side and the idiots slow down to have a look and hold everyone else up who are just trying to get to work. AAAHHHH!!!!

You need to try to be more tolerant. The person in front who is really annoying you could have been in a terrible accident, or lost a loved one in a terrible accident. There are lots of reasons why people drive slowly or cautiously.

if you drive up the tail of someone who is driving slower than you wish them to, then that is your fault... pay more attention and take a chill pill.
and re-read the highway code.
