I want to start reading into other cultures around the world.i think not enough people bother to get to know the other side of things so i think it would be interesting to do so.does anyone know any good books or even websites that would start me off.anything interesting you might of came across yourself etc.cheers

If you're thinking about Ireland, i would recommend you read Walter Macken, also visited www.nli.ie That's the national library and they have so much material. You can read a lot online. As for other countries you could check out by cultural groups, maybe religion if you are interested and you can also join cyberfriends.com - They have members from all over the world and you can make stacks of friends from different countries, beliefs, etc.

Go to the library, and go the the children's section and get out books on different countries. In my library, they are marked with an "x" before the number. This is a great technique if you just want an introductory level understanding. It works really well for biographies, too. I do this all the time.

What about reading some novels.
White teeth is a British novel about the experience of jamaican and Indian immigrants in Britain over three generations which many people really like.

Krik Krat! by Edwidge Danticat talks about the haitian culture in this novel and also Breath, eyes and memories as well. They do tell actual facts about the country but it's up to you to find out what.

yes, read the book "Islam and Terrorism" by Mark Gabriel (he is a former Muslim professor (was professor of Islamic history and philosophy at the most prestigious Muslim university in the world (Al Azar University in Cairo). . well, up until he left Islam (because he saw how bloodthirsty and evil it was. .

and then when he left Islam, they kicked him out and his dad tried to kill him [his proper duty under Islam]. . he was tortured by the Egyptian secret police for three weeks for this, and eventually left the country (escaped to S Africa and then the US). .
