No. The problem is that children have not been exposed to the true realities and rigors of adulthood. They have no experience with healthcare. They have no experience with taxes. All they know is what their parents tell them, or what they decide to check out on their own (which most of the time isn't anything). Their responses are based solely on emotion, rather than rational thinking, because they have not yet learned that pure passion cannot solve a problem on its own. Voting is something that should be left to adults who have made responsible, thoughtful decisions. Unfortunately, even adults base most of their voting on lookism and a single cause, rather than looking at the picture as a whole.

No children should not have the vote. Childhood should not be burdened by politics and anyway a child's awareness of the political world around them is limited.

However, parents should have a vote on their children's behalf until they're old enough to vote themselves. After all, adults with children have a vested interest in these children future.

Politicians often have policies swayed by the need for win cheap votes from (say as an example) smokers and whiskey drinkers for the benefit of near term of elections rather than important issues of that have an importance to future generations.

Voters who are Parents are more likely to vote in the interest of sound policies that will benefit society as a whole in the long term.

No! No! No! because most of them are outrageously immature and would probably vote for the politicians who looked cuddliest!!
A better question to have asked is, "Should Yahoo! continue with it's stupid system of mixing children and adults in Answers?" Many of the Q & As posted are infantile in the extreme and are riddled with atrocious grammar and spelling. We should have junior and senior sections!!

Yes they should. Look at the bloody idiots we have now, if children had voted in the last election the outcome could not have been worse.

No.

They are legally not responsible for their actions and decisions, they cannot sign a contract. They have not reached the age of consent.

It does not matter that most 1 year olds are 10 times more intelligent than conservative radio talk show hosts.

Not children but possibly lower the age to 16 as you can join the army, have sex, gamble, be in full time employment but you can't vote!

No. Only mature people should have the vote, 18 is early enough.

No & there should be a maturity test ranging 18 to 35 some republicans would never pass! However they should learn mock politics/elections in school.

well they could as the prime minister and all the rest of the goverment seem to spend most of there time visiting primary schools as they are too scared to meet adults and it is a good photo oppertunity for the papers as if they really care about your children
