I am 12 days late on my period, i keep feeling like I might start but it goes away. The pains alternate from side to side in my lower abdomen above my pubic area. My breats burn more than normal. I am going to take a test but just wondering if anyone had experienced this before? Wasnt sure if you could have menstrual like cramps when you are pregnant.

I'm an RN, and the abdominal pains worry me. If you typically have these, and are regular, I would not worry. However, with you being 12 days late, it could be the early signs of an ectopic pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy is where the fertilized egg actually embeds itself into the fallopian tubes rather than the uterus. It can cause abdominal pain, and if left untreated, it can rupture the fallopian tube and even cause death. I would go to the doctor's office and request a blood test to determine pregnancy. It's the fastest way to determine, as a simple over the counter test may not show just yet. (Mine showed negative for the first month, but I was pregnant) Tell the doctor of your abdominal pains and let he/she know of your ectopic concerns. They will rush your lab results and if you are pregnant they will squeeze you right into ultrasound to see if it is actually an ectopic pregnancy. Unfortunatly, ectopic preganancies cannot be saved, so if that is what it is, I would also recommend counseling afterwards. Whether it the potential pregnancy was wanted, planned, accidental, or unwanted, it's an emotional thing to go through and talking to someone would is very therapeutic. But that's all what if.... Talk to your doctor, have the blood test, and go straight to ultrasound if positive. I wish you the best of luck!

Take a pregnancy test and get medical attention. If you are pregnant and you are cramping there could be something wrong. If not take some female herbs(Go to your local herb store and the attendant can help you pick out something that will work good for you).

Take the test. It's very normal to have some mild cramps while pregnant.

I experienced cramping like that during my pregnancy so it must be possible. Go out and get a test! Good luck!
