What's the life span of a car battery because I have my car for over 3 and a half years. So is it time for me to get a new battery for my car?

Next time you take your car in for an oil change or a tune-up, ask the mechanic to test your battery.

In the meantime, if it starts your car, don't worry about it. I've had my car for 12 years and 123,000 miles. It's only on its third battery, including the one that came with it when it was new.

Batteries are most vulnerable in hot weather and very cold weather. The very design of a storage battery makes deterioration part of the working process. You could get as long as 5-6 years from a battery, but more than likely 3-4 is normal. With the cost of a battery around $50 why take a chance that it will fail. At $12 per year for a decent battery they are very cheap.

Have your vehicle inspected by a qualified technician.

Most batteries average 3 to 4 years (btw, that is over 10,000 starts), although some have lasted shorter, and a select few, a lot longer.

When will your battery die? Well, when will I die? Hopefully, not soon(for either of us).

If it ain't broke..., however, at 40 months, replacement would not be a bad idea.

Three years is a good amount of time for a car battery. If you make a lot of short drives it's even worse, so I'd look for a replacement before winter.

They often seem to last for 5 years or so. You'll find the car getting harder to start when the battery begins to die.

You replace them when they die. Average life spam of a half way decent battery is 3 years.

any good garage can test it for you. And when I say "good garage", DO NOT go to a place that sells batteries.
