NO, but then again why would a "perfectly rational" person want to kill themselves? That doesn't seem rational, does it?
It fact in some places the penalty for attempted suicide is death!
Now that is rational, eh?
Those are laws of morality.
In all honesty, I think the only things that should be against the law are non-consensual acts!
Anything that someone wants to do to themselves or with other consenting adults they should be allowed to do! It is their life, it is their experience, it will be their consequences, and should be their choice. Right or wrong.
Really separate the church and the state.

I think the penalty for suicide is death, kinda funny if you ask me.
I see no reason why euthinasia should be illegal, it's funny, in this country the republicans want abortion and euthinasia to be illegal but they send young men and women in the prime of their life across seas to kill other people and be killed, they be some very confused individuals.

Well in the UK they are.

This wasn't always the case. One chap in Henry VIII time failed to commit suicide and was tried for three offences:

1 Blasphemy (as he had despaired of God's ability to save him)
2 Treason (as he had tried to deprive the King of one of his subjects)
3 Attempted murder

He got the death penalty!

It depends on what country you live in. But if you really wanted to, they can't really stop you. Go ahead, the world is over populated anyways and the end is near.

Why would they care? If they killed themselves, they wouldn't have to worry about the mortal laws anymore.

Suicide is against the law in many places. Of course, if you succeed, there is no way you can be prosecuted.
