The best cell phone ever. No one can answer that question but i can certainly send you with the right questions to ask yourself and your cell phone provider.
Name brand phones, Motorola, Nokia, LG they are all top models.
Camera, usually the best is 1+ megapixal.
Also look around into what type suits you. Are you one for the traditional bar phone or are you one for "flips" Wouldyou be interested in the trendy slider phones or a phone like the Sidekick.
What about texting are you big on that, make sure the keys are comfortable to continously tap at them.
External display is important to most people so they can see whose calling them when the phone is flipped closed.
The most popular phone out now would be the sidekick 3 or the Razr. The razr is way way too easily broken. The sidekick is only out by Tmobile and unless they have great coverage in your area the phone would be worthless.
Another trend it out with the pda phones, Treo, Blackberry, and smart phones. If you are one to deal with documents and emails and tons of internet clips then those would be great.
If you are out there on the ole "myspace" then looking into Helio would be a great way to go..but remember is primary focus is on internet use and texting not phonecalls.
Look for a phone that has been out for at least 4 months, that way you know its not too old but not so new that they haven't caught all the bugs!.
Good luck hunting. Also the best place to learn about cell phones and what you will like best is www.phonescoop.com you can choose by carrier or brand. It will tell you all you need to know about almost every phone out there, even those really old 10 years ago phones (maybe even the one thats slowly dieing!

Depends on your requirements.
Are you a basic voice calls only person or do you use your phone as an extension of your life?
There are phones that can double as an MP3 Player, phones with 2 to 3 MegaPixels camera, phones that look sexy, phones that double as a PDA, phones that are 3G (faster internet, I think).
More features mean less battery life. Smaller size can also mean less battery life.
You will need to decide on the size, features & your price limit.
You can browse mobile phone blogs/forums for user feedback on phone models so you know durability/reliability/bugs of phone models that interest you.
