We have many, many such places in the U.S. Some take great care of the patients and some are miserable places. I have been in alot of these facilities because I am a paramedic and we pick up/return patients to/from nursing homes. Why do you ask? Leave message on my 360 if you need to know more.

Sure do. Usually elderly people will be put into nursing homes because their families cannot give them the care they need.

Yes. I have a friend nursing in a home for Alzheimer's.

There are others for different impairments.
