New York State is drained financially and culturally by the rest of the United States, excluding MA and CA.

I would love New York STATE to secede from the union. Contrary to some posters here, NY STATE is not a net importer. It grows lots of items it can trade with the US, and would get to keep and spend all the taxes it collects on the people who pay them. The rest of the US hates us, and we hate them just as much, so let's get divorced already!

As bitter and arrogant as you seem to be, I should say yes so we wouldn't have to claim people like yourself. The truth, and I love it, is that you cocky New Yorkers couldn't do without the rest of the US. Financially, New York and California owe more than all other 48 states combined, and that is to your own accord. Be proud of that one. Culturally, you're no different than any large coastal city in the US. New York attitude will tell you differently, but the rest of us know better. Exactly how are you being drained culturally? Didn't Guliani have to come in and rescue you guys from the Dark Ages, culturally speaking? You should repost a new question: Should the United States kick New York, California and Massachusetts out of the union?

Taiwan became initially component of China. distinctly a lot all taiwanese can hint ancestors one or extra generations again into China. initially, the Emperor of China purely allowed men onto the island (can not remember the rationalization), yet afterward, women ought to bypass to the island. the rationalization that Taiwan is feasible a seperate usa from percentis by using political warfare contained in the early component of the twentieth century. The democratic party misplaced and fled to Taiwan (their lives were spared and they were allowed to live in Taiwan), at the same time as Mao's communistic party staying in mainland. China in no way aims to break the inhabitants in Taiwan (that's like killing your cousins!), Taiwanese will be considered a dialect, as maximum/all Taiwanese also talk fluent Mandarin, and China has been conserving and promotion the kinds of subculture contained in the country for decades, so i'm unclear that that they had attempt to wipe out a subculture. If everyone tries to communicate about Tibet, i'm able to communicate about that no longer purely are they attempting to allow extra chinese into Tibet to shuttle, the percenthas also been conserving them. The information lies in heritage. i'm curious to work out your definition of conquering, yet i'm really satisfied that you've an open techniques. i detect fewer and a lot less human beings on right here that are prepared to take both component of the tale.

What a joke!

If they declared themselves an independent nation, where would they get their food, electricity, water, etc. from? It would be a nation dependent entirely on imports.

The city would become an empty shell in a matter of days.

New York is not "drained financially and culturally" by the rest of the U.S. -- it is a net importer of everything.

It would be interesting to see that happen, especially since the World Trade Center wouldn't be our problem anymore, therefore no more terrorist worries.

But to be an independent country, NY would have to have spme sort of trade, something that is unique to it then the rest of the region, that people want, besides stocks, so that they can be traded and NY can have some sort of foundation for its economy.
