ABSOLUTELY!!!!! It is not even close. Mexican restaurants in the U.S. cater to American's version, or their concept of what Mexican food should be like. I find it quite bland and unappealing. I've talked to restaurant owners who state that they would lose business if they tried making and selling food as it is made in their country. Instead, they fill their menus with the typical and expected fare...i.e. chimichangas, tacos, tamales. The same stuff as the next Mexican restaurant. Cheese on top of tortillas, with lettuce and tomatoes on the side. Try ordering "tacos de lengua" next time u visit ur local "mexican" restaurant. Or "tacos de cabrito". There are so many delicious dishes that just don't sell in the USA because we Americans are used to the same items on the menu. Try an authentic, and I mean authentic, restaurant next time. It probably means going deep into the barrio, but it might be worth your palate.

Mexican food in New Mexico and Arizona is v-e-r-y spicy, sometimes almost too hot! And it is very different from the mexican food of Mexico. I like all of it!

Even Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California each have their own particular kinds of mexican food.

you basically replied your self. Stereotypes. regrettably we've misconceptions to administration even as it comprises Mexican nutrients, or something Mexican. many people imagine that something remotely Spanish is linked to Mexico, alongside with Spanish guitar, flamenco, bullfights, señoritas, ole, castanets and different ridiculous labels. And no the time period fajitas isn't Mexican. What i'll allow you to know is that back contained in the ninety's in Mexico we began importing a decrease of meat from united states and Canada, which both countries considered as waste meat. That decrease is from band of meat that girdles the tummy. We call it arrachera. even as imports reached an all time severe, united states and Canada began questioning why contained in the international lets favor to eat that? so as that they investigated and positioned out it replaced into no longer waste meat in any respect. So for sure they hiked the cost and began this fajita ingredient. Now for sure fajita is any meat decrease into strips because you've chicken fajitas and beef fajitas. in case you stay contained in the States you may want to stay with the very undeniable reality that many untraveled individuals choose others with the help of offensive stereotypes. many circumstances people have informed me that burritos is Bona Fide Mexican nutrients, even as that's honestly an Americanized time period, or that Taco Bell is Mexican, even as that's Americanized Southwestern or Tex Mex quasi Mexican stuff, yet surely no longer Mexican in any respect. your time in the past some jerk honestly had the gall to assert that he attended a Mexican eating position and that each body requested for burritos or tacos, this replaced into throughout the time of Oaxaca food week which featured mole, and that he favourite to bypass to a distinct eating position that served what he considered to be Mexican fare. it is how issues are. shop up the sturdy cooking and practise of uninformed persons who each so often refuse to seem previous their borders or their subculture.

Totally! different! In fact, just as in the US there are regional foods which are pleasantly different depending which part of the country you are in. Be adventurous and taste the local cuisine, you will always be pleasantly surprised, and always ask for the degree of hot or picante so that your dish won't be uneatable.

absolutely.
is the food in sonora different than in df?
the further you get from the border the more gringoized the food gets.
if you see a sign tat says authentic it means GRINGOS EAT HERE, and no self respecting hispanic would be caught inside except to work.
tex mex is an exception. i prefer sonora style, i carry brown habenero sause with me, but tex mex is pretty darned good to me.

Definately. For that matter, cusine in Mexico itself is diffrent from state to state. What we eat here in Sinaloa for example looks and tastes nothing like they eat in Quitana Roo.
