I have a tall friend who thinks he can run faster than a short kid. I was wondering if he has and advantage because his legs are longer, and he can take longer stride.

Since a tall person's leg can extend further than a short person's leg it gives them an advantage when it comes to distance covered.

When I was in high school nobody thought I could run fast because I am short. I beat every tall guy who ever thought I was slow. I was on the track team and did pretty well. I don't think tall people have any advantage.

I think it's sort of true. I am pretty tall and i use to run track. When i ran i did take longer steps but short people (on my team) moved there legs quicker...but i am a pretty fast runner they never beat me....hope this helps

Sometimes I guess, it really depends on WHO it is. i wouldn't underestimate a short guy, or overestimate a tall guy. if everybody was built the same, the tall people WOULD have an advantage....but not everyone is built the same...I'm prety tall, and i'm a pretty slow sprinter. Its almost allll natural.
