I personally would not.
It has nothing to do with me not being patriotic, because I am. However, I have enough knowledge to know that there is a huge risk of dying. I also think this war is not legit.
A quote from a Bruce Springsteen song:

Fears a dangerous thing
It'll turn your heart black you can trust
It'll take your God filled soul
Fill it with devils and dust

Although many people think this war is legit and really do believe they are fighting for a cause, has killing others just to survive really become the answer? Do you think its right? And by fighting for your country (if you are religious), are losing the battle with God and trading it in for a soul full of "devils and dust"

Your thoughts.

I dont know why but many people think I'm saying we are at war with religious people. Thats not what I am saying.

What I am saying: If you a religious person, do you think by going off to war and killing (anybody!) will take away from your religion and your relationship with God?

Every soldier knows there is a great risk in their job. They know that they may be killed on any given day, at any given hour. The fact that they volunteer to do the job shows a great deal about their character. It shows bravery, honor, and patriotism. Springsteen's song has nothing to do with it. When you're overseas, you don't spend 24 hours a day worrying about what could happen. You spend time dealing with what did or did not happen. If you sit there and think what if I get hit, what if he gets hit, what if theres a bomb, what if....you're going to go crazy. So again, Springsteen has nothing to do with anything.

There is war in the Bible. There is retribution. Nowhere does the Bible say "my people" should roll over and be wiped out by "your people." By serving I do not lose "the battle with God." I am not at war with God. A war against injustice, against rapists and murderers is not wrong. War can be both horrible, and right.

Oh my name it is nothin'
My age it means less
The country I come from
Is called the Midwest
I's taught and brought up there
The laws to abide
And that land that I live in
Has God on its side.

Oh the history books tell it
They tell it so well
The cavalries charged
The Indians fell
The cavalries charged
The Indians died
Oh the country was young
With God on its side.

Oh the Spanish-American
War had its day
And the Civil War too
Was soon laid away
And the names of the heroes
I's made to memorize
With guns in their hands
And God on their side.

Oh the First World War, boys
It closed out its fate
The reason for fighting
I never got straight
But I learned to accept it
Accept it with pride
For you don't count the dead
When God's on your side.

When the Second World War
Came to an end
We forgave the Germans
And we were friends
Though they murdered six million
In the ovens they fried
The Germans now too
Have God on their side.

I've learned to hate Russians
All through my whole life
If another war starts
It's them we must fight
To hate them and fear them
To run and to hide
And accept it all bravely
With God on my side.

But now we got weapons
Of the chemical dust
If fire them we're forced to
Then fire them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask questions
When God's on your side.

In a many dark hour
I've been thinkin' about this
That Jesus Christ
Was betrayed by a kiss
But I can't think for you
You'll have to decide
Whether Judas Iscariot
Had God on his side.

So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war.

First off, doesn't your sentence, "has killing others just to survive really become the answer," make you pause for a second. Of course people are going to fight for survival. And you are reading waaaaaay to much into Springsteen and applying it in a strange, unclear way. Are you saying if you fight for the US and lose, you are losing God? A more apt song, if you are looking at this as a religious war, is God on Our Side, by Bob Dylan. Listen to it, I think you will like it.

I think thats why they try not to push religeon that much when making descisions with in the government, becuase we would get pushed areound for being a big Pu$$y.

You are right, freedom of speech. I would like to see people earn that right insead of sit on their butts and think it's free. If the war is right or not, if people didn't volenteer others would get forced to go. Not just the draft, people with prior service can be called back. So if you have any brothers, other male family members, or guy friends that didn't VOLENTEER for the military, enjoy having then at home because other people are paying for it.

i'd actually like to affix the Marines, and that i did get excepted and they were going to deliver me out in Sept. yet I declined because i'm a woman and that i do no longer like the truth i'm able to't be in wrestle. i imagine they ought to have an all women folk unit, and make wrestle a call for women folk. that's the purely reason i'm able to't connect any militia branch (:

From one perspective, we are fighting what everyone now calls 'Islamic fascists'.

However, from the other perspective, it's not who you're fighting, but who you are fighting FOR - all of the innocent people that have been lost due to terrorism, no matter what religion/race/etc. they are. You can fight for the innocent children in this country who should not have to grow up with the fear of terrorism.

So yes, in theory, I would go, to defend my country and the people in it.

this war is not being fought against "religious" people, its being fought against terrorists. Its being fought against people who hide behind false religious beliefs and misquote their Koran inorder to sound like what their doing is right. These terrorists are making the "real" religious people (muslims) look bad because it paints them as violent and aggressive people when the really are passive and peaceful people. the war is being fought against extremists that killed thousands of innocent unarmed unsuspecting mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers in the name of a god that would have never condoned such a thing.

Ever heard the saying "There are no athiests in a foxhole."? I'd imagine it's true. I'd go if I could and they needed me. Probably be scared shitless but I'd go. It's something called duty. Something I try to avoid lol.

Oh darn! Now we're at war with religious people?
And FOX News promised me that it was with 'fascist ideology.'
I guess you just never can tell who or what to believe in anymore.
Thank God I'm not an atheist.

You're full of beans! "Just to survive" is an EXCELLENT reason to kill others--the only truly good reason there is! The rest of your little essay is wrongheaded too, but I don't have time right now to set you straight. Maybe later.
