I have this problem.

Use the formula A=P+Prt which gives the total amount A when a principal P is invested at a simple intrest rate r for a time of t years. The intrest is represented by Prt.

1. Solve the formula for the principal P.

2. Solve the formula for the intrest rate r.

Please help me. If you know of any good sites that could help, it'd be greatly appreciated!

If memory serves then you're looking to isolate a variable.

1. P = A - Prt
2. r = (A - P)/(Pt)

Now, if these answers are right, I don't know if I've really helped you. Get a tutor.

r = (A-P)/Pt is correct.
Remember that the rate is a percentage so it needs to be changed into decimal form in order to get the correct solution to the problem .

Example:
Principal = 100
Rate = 5% (.05)
Time = 5 yrs

Future Value (Amount) = 100 + (100*.05*5) = 125
Rate = (125 - 100)/(100*5) = 25/500 = .05 = 5%

w² - 2w = 15 First team all the Numbers: w² - 2w = 15 w² - 2w - 15 = 0 formula: [-b ± ?(b² - 4ac) / 2a] a = a million b = -2 c = -15 * = to multiply [2 ± ?(4 - 4 * a million * -15) / 2 * a million] Calculate: [2 ± ?(4 - 4 * a million * -15) / 2 * a million] 2 ± ?sixty 4 / 2 2 ± 8 / 2 Now you have 2 thoughts: (2 + 8) ÷ 2 = 5 (2 - 8) ÷ 2 = -3 answer: w = 5, -3 extra w² - 2w - 15 = 0 w....................+3 w....................-5 w * w = w² 3 * (-5) = -15 flow Multiply: (-5) * w = -5w (+3) * w = 3w -5w + 3w = -2w So now that all of us understand that its spectacular, you alter this: w....................+3 w....................-5 Into This: (w....................+3) (w.....................-5) And merge them collectively: (w + 3) (w - 5) and convey them collectively: (w + 3)(w - 5) Now drag out the numbers and alter the sign. answer: w = -3, 5

Golden rule of algebra:
You can do anything (except divide by zero) to one side of the equation, as long as you do the same thing to the other side.

You want to undo everything that's been done to the variable you're trying to isolate.

And another hint: Do 2 first, it's easier.
