There's this girl in my class that I sit next to and we talk sometimes. She's very friendly and always complements me on my work (this is an art class). I'm not thinking of becoming her boyfriend, necessarily, but just a good friend. Should I get her number or email address? How? When? Or do you think I should talk with her and work up to that point? I'm afraid that if I wait too long someone else may ask her out or something; it is the beginning of the year, after all. Give me advice.

Absolutely get her email address. This is a great ice breaker. You can talk to her without looking at her and you won't get nervous and say something stupid cause you can edit as you type. E-mail ROCKS! Then you can get an idea if she likes you. Cause trust me, if she's a great girl, someone will snap her up if you don't.

so if you don't necessarily want to be her bf....y not wait until you work up to that point. don't pounce. just be subtle and let her know u're kinda interested. since she's complementing your talent...teach her some tricks. sit by her in the class...u can try to draw her, if she'll allow, as a like a project or something. are there any pair projects that u'll be working on so that there will be reason for you to get her number? since u're in the same class it should be easy to do if you decide to go for it. email might me a bit safter though....to get that first.

Just ask her if she wouldn't mind giving you her email address. Don't as for the phone if she wants you to have it she will give it to you with the email address. Good luck and take care.

Just talk to her. Once your comfortable talking to her then ask for her email. Odds are she likes you too otherwise I don't think she'd be giving you complements

A good startup question is asking her what her interests are outside of school and say hey I do that to we should hang out. Or even talking about new movies coming out and ask her to a movie. It'll be a piece of cake.

i say that you should get to know her first then ask see if she is flirting then ask to be her boy friend or not. main idea is get to know her.
