I'm not a mom yet, but I'd let my kids date online when they're old enough to know whether they're talking to good people or bad people.
I won't be against online dating because that's how I met my husband.

Well, I'm 8 months pregnant with first child, so it does count that I'm a soon-to-be mom.
I would only allow my child to date someone online if they meet in a public area and with a friend. I met my husband from aol over 4.5 years ago. Everything went out fine, but it seems like the internet is quite dangerous these days.

Probably not, you never know how old the "young" guy or girl on the other end of the email really is. Too many scary stories in the news of cops catching would be 15 year old guys who turn out to be 30 or 40 somethings.

It sounds harmless... BUT it's too big a risk not knowing who's on the other side othe that computer. I rather have some kid I don't like come over and visit where I can see who it is and supervise as much as I can.

How old is your child? Only if you closly monitor what is being said and with who. I found people from all over text messaging my 14 year old. They were kids but I had to go thru all of them with a fine tooth comb to figure that out

I wouldn't let my child be in any chat rooms in the first place. If she were into myspace I'd closely monitor that too. There are to many perverts out in cyberspace.

how old is your kid? no, as there are too many freaks out there and one day she might get curious and want to meet him or her. they may manipulate the kid also.
