Sixty five years ago it would've been called a P.O.W. camp.
Actually, the animals at Guantanamo have it better, because they are monitored by the Red Cross, fed religiously acceptable meals, and have their spiritual needs catered to five times a day as they pray to an imaginary entity.
Moreover, they are held up to the world as innocents being persecuted by a violent, arrogant superpower that is bent on world domination, and the acquisition of oil, via a mythical military industrial complex.

Sept 11 happened five years ago this month

It's amusing to read some of the answers on this forum from people so hell bent on blaming America for everything, that Sept 11 was either a blip on the radar to them, or America had it coming
I was in New York the morning of Sept 11. I'll never forget the smell
Anyone that's got any illusions that America (and the free world) is not fighting for its existence, and that the people at Guantanamo have got it better than they deserve are dellusional

coragryph - are you that naive? Since when do our own internal laws and protections apply to foreigners who have attacked us first? Are you kidding me?
And at which point in this conflict have international treaties been honored in the US's favor?
Wake up, buddy, all bets are off.

kingstubborn - Eisenhower was wrong.

'tiko'! Old buddy! You still haven't got a life!

Idiots like you always find a way to hide behind the race card because you have nowhere else to go.
Moron, I'd rather assume they're all guilty, than take a chance that some of them are not. We're in a war.
That's not patriotic, it's common sense.

Liberals like you are the kind of intellectual half - wits that'll cry out for love and understanding, just as the knife cuts your throat.

These animals are whining about being forced to dress up in women's clothing (this is abusive?) whilst their brethren decapitate people on camera.

Given a choice - bring in the Victoria's Secret.

I love your b*****t analogy about the response to 'my neighbor kicking my dog'.
No idiot - they want to decapitate my dog, and destroy everything in sight.
To prevent that, I'll kill them, their family and everyhing they hold dear.
Wouldn't you? Oh no....I forgot.

F**k, I'd hate to be a member of your family that needed help.

First of all, you refer to them as animals. Have you a shred of evidence that they are ALL guilty? I assume that's why you refer to them that way.

The reason for the criticism? Well, letting so-called prisoners languish for years without a fair trial, some of them likely innocent by the way (but of course you would use the racist defence that they are all guilty because of their ethnic/religious background), the torture and abuse...reason enough?

Cue impassioned patriotic response...

I suspect my neighbour down the street is going to kick my dog, so I'd better shackle his whole family, rape and torture them, and everything will be safe for me, because my life and my ilk are worth more.

Got your impassioned patriotic response anyway, Brad.

OK, Brad, my white flag is up. No use arguing with an abusive lunatic. Until next time at least.

Oh, ****! I called you a name! Well, you set the precedent.

The military-industrial complex is not mythical, or you consider one of our greatest generals misinformed on the subject.

65 years ago, a POW would be held until the end of the war. But this "war" is never-ending....terrorism will never be defeated because it can't be defeated. It is a tactic, not an enemy. So we hold on to these people till they die of old age? Why not just execute them and be done with them and the issue? God knows our soldiers taken prisoner are treated in that way.

Because we're on top and we're basically alone. The rest of the world despises the US because we have made ourselves into a superpower that is the ENVY of all other nations. The usual suspects criticize us for virtually everything, because to go along with it ultimately makes us more powerful. The problem is that we are not perfect and the opportunists jump in wherever they can, blow it way out of proportion and criticize. The worst part is that the dregs of our society, AKA liberals, with the help of an overwhelmingly liberal media are screaming like spoiled toddlers in unison with the anti-Americanism that is out there.

Mainly because we're breaking our own laws, and we're violating the international treaties we've signed.

So, if a nation cannot be trusted to honor its treaties, and can't be trusted to follow it's own internal laws, why should it be respected at all.

Perhaps seeing the bloody, charred remains of their children's intestines smeared across the pavement would give them a better understanding of the kind of "people" being held at Gitmo... I doubt any of the people against Gitmo give a damn about the captives. It's just a convenient way to put down the U.S.

Why ask a question and then answer it? You obviously don't want legitimate answers.
