when my 5 month old niece fell off a really high bed onto a hard floor my sister in law took her to the er immediately when she got back from the store. my brother was there with the baby and he turned away for just a second and rolled off the bed. it is very important for you to have the baby checked out. don't wait until you notice the baby acting strange you need to go to the hospital as soon as possible when something like that happens to a baby. the baby can't tell you if anything is wrong with words only crying and that doesn't tell you much. you really shouldn't have left a 7 month old baby on a bed even if you were right there or if it wasn't you make sure that person has learned from that mistake. i hope that everything is ok with your baby. oh yeah by the way my neice ended up with two big bruises on her head and her shoulder got sprained and couldn't move it very well and everytime she did try to move it she screamed. it was very sad, but she was very lucky that that's all that happened to her.

To be honest, i would (if not done already) cuddle and show concern, and then check pupils, awareness, and if your baby is reacting as only you and your baby know how is "normal". if all of these things check out good and clear, then cuddle and love a little more and it's okay. remember to keep a watchful eye on your boyo over the next 12 hours ( that is when any weird symptoms will truly show if any). I can say all of these things b/c my 7 month went through a similar situation, only when 4 months old though. Good luck!
just a little ps to all the ones being so harsh on this mom...seriously! if you have never had kids then you don't know that even a second look away is 1. normal and okay and 2. not to be criticized by others who don't know from true experience! to be so mean to a woman and accuse her of not having responsibility! how dare you! obviously she is concerned enough to get others opinions and her baby has lived to 7 months! honestly! good mothers are there, and you need to respect a mother for being just that! shame on all you critical adults!

Babies are tougher then you think but I would make sure you babyproof as much as posible so she dosn't hit hard things if she trips/falls. My baby fell off the bed last month (6 months) because she had woken up form her nap and just kept on rolling. Unfortunate and sad, but she was fine after hubby picked her up - no bruises. Then a couple days later she was flailing about all giggly and happy and flopped over and slammed her head into the arm of the futon and nice a shiner on her eye for a couple days. She screamed but was ok in a couple mins. I told doc a couple days later at her 6 months appt and he thought nothing of it. Babies are trying to get used to their bodies and their surroundings, so just keep them as safe as possible but it's not possible to keep them in a bubble. Just be careful if the baby starts acting abnormally afterwards or very lathergic or bleeding or won't stay awake - that's an ER type emergency.. but if she goes right back to playing after an accident, then more then likely she's fine (not a doc - just an opinion). And as for not having the baby on the bed after 2 months that the previous poster said - you can makeit safer by having your bed on the floor and not the frame or putting a safety bar on it (like toddler beds have). Plenty of people let their child sleep in the bed and they are fine - just need to watch carefully. My daughter does and after she fell once she learned to stop rolling. I still wtach her like a hawk, but she learned very quickly.

YES!!! His head is still pretty soft and there may be some major damage from a fall like that. Take him to the hospital to get him checked out. Also, if you are going to put your baby on your bed, watch him or put pillows around him so he can't fall off again. You're lucky he didn't break his neck from a fall like that.

I know this sounds bad but, my daughter has rolled off the bed twice. Each time she has landed on her back and the doctor said not to worry. You should worry if your baby starts throwing up a lot after he falls. Or if you have problems waking him up or he seems kinda out of it. You should be worried though if he has a bump on his head and it is introverted. Where the bump goes into the head instead of forming a lump that pops out. I hope everything is ok.

yeah if he is acting different. Really now that he is developed and his body has hardened, now is the time that you can kinda let go and let him explore. I had a similar experience with my 5 month old daugher. She fell off of our 2story (mattresses) bed onto a hardwood floor and laughed abou it. Hope I helped

i have a14 month old and a 6 yr old, it depends on how far he fell. if his eyes are dialated and he is actng strange then take your baby to the doctors or hospital. if he/she is acting normal and iisnt showing signs of anything unusual, he is ok. make sure within the 2 hours after it happened he doesnt sleep

You should be a concerned. You should check to see if everything is okay with him.
I know accidents do happen but you have to be cautious these days. I hope he is okay.
Sometime it just takes 2 min for a accident to happen, but nothing can really be done about it.
He should be okay after a few days.

Is there a knot on the head? Does he act lethargic? Is he acting "normal" for him? How do his pupils look?

Really if you think that you might ought to be concerned, then you probably should take your son to the doctor. That would be the safest bet. It is always better to err on the side of caution. Especially where our babies are concerned.

This happens more times than you would think. If he is still crying take him to the Dr or hospital. If he has stopped crying, then he may have bruised or sprained his back. It may be sore so just be easy with him.
