A stroke (a.k.a cerberal vascular accident) is caused by a blood clot which blocks an artery(s) thereby stopping blood flow to the brain. A seizure on the other hand is caused by chaotic neural impulses in the brain. There are numerous ways to cause a seizure, such as: trauma, high fever (i.e. febrile seizures usually seen in young children) drug induced, chemical imbalance in the blood and congenital defect.

Strokes always lead to some damage to a portion of the brain though it is not always apparent. On the other hand, seizures can lead to brain damage but it is more likely that there was first some damage to the brain which caused the stroke.
