Recently i tried to update the BIOS with F9 version of the Gigabyte GA-8PE800(-L) MOBO.The previous version was F7. The problem is the following.Despite the fact that in the BIOS bootup screen the BIOS indicates that it has been updated to F9 version, when i used the MSINFO32 tool of WinXP the BIOS version was still F7.
What is wrong here?
What can i do to make sure that my BIOS was indeed updated or not?

Did your BIOS update correctly?

I always use a floppy disk to update BIOS. I never trusted the Windows versions to update BIOS correctly.

Try downloading to a floppy and performing the upgrade again. I think you'll succeed.

No. BIOS updates can purely be executed manually. The person could desire to get carry of the BIOS updates from the producer and initiate up the technique. some manufacturers have a abode windows based GUI that runs in a classic consultation out of your laptop.

So long as the POST (bootup screen) is showing it as the new version, I wouldn't worry too much about what XP is saying. Bottom line is XP will use what ever is there...There can be only one so you can rest assured that it's using the most recent version. If it were trying to use a version that wasn't there, I doubt you could even boot up.

To check to see if it indeed upgraded go to the setup screen at bootup and poke around, you'll see the version there. You'll need to hit F12 or F2 or Delete at boot up. Should say "To enter setup hit 'X'"

Hope that helps.

if it is showing go into the bios at start some computers are different i hit delete key as it is booting and check to see what it says there if it says f9 that's what it is - also you should update your bios by flashing it with whatever flash utility your bios is-- but be extremely careful flashing your bios incorrectly can cost you dearly also after you flash the bios i always clear the cmos manually at the jumper
