If you live in the US, go to the county courthouse for the county where the house is located. Go to the recorder of deeds office. You can ask for assistance to do a search by address and by your father's name. If he does not own the property in question, he may own other property that you don't know about.
The first two answerers are wrong. Deeds are not recorded by cities. They only have local property tax records.
The Clerk of Courts handles records of criminal convictions, not property ownership records.

One way is to try the County Tax Assessor. Try searching online for the Tax Assesor of the County you father lives in. Often you can do a search online by inputing the property address ... this will give you the owners name as well as other property info. If that Tax Assesor does not have an online presence you can just call them on the phone and ask for the information... it is public record

Go to the County Clerk's office. Deeds are a matter of public record, so anyone can see the documentation. They may charge a nominal fee.

You can find out the name on the "title" by using your local county auditor's or assessor's website. You can usually find out the last sale price too.
