I would talk to the mom and tell her that he is a grown man now and he knows and needs to take care of himself.

How old are you guys? Putting a lock on the fridge is just crazy. You could tell him to get a job so he can move away or maybe he could stay with you.

Be his encourager and modivater. IF he is in the situation to move out then I would recommend so. If not he should try making this his main goal. This is crazy who does that to people. If he hasnt already tried to have a relationship with her now is the time.

Right now might just have to be a time to just be there for him when he needs you. You really can not get him out of that house until he is 18. I hope things work out for the best.

Where's his old man?
He should get a job and move out.
If he can't cos he's too young, he should get a parttime job so he can at least get something to eat.
Meanwhile, be his moral support. That's the best and only thing you can do.

how old is he? If he is nearing that age where he can move out, I would suggest that. Does he have any other relatives he can count on? He might want to go to one of them, perhaps they can confront her together ... maybe even his father will listen. She might realize how much she is hurting him and treat him more respectfully

He is the only one who can handle this. He might not want you to intrude, macho thing. If he does let you have a talk with her then you might spend the rest of your life fighting his battles. Best Wishes!!

OMG, tell him to move out, with a friend or a teacher, or someone that will help him. NOW!! OMG, that's so not right.
