Just so we are all clear....I, in no way, believe that our President could even remotely be compared to Hitler! Just because I asked a question referring to it, doesn't mean I believe it!

There is not a comparison, but I can't wait to see the small minded liberal responses to this one!!

Both used emergency situations as an excuse to seize more power. Both manufactured crises - Hitler by burning the reichstag, and Bush by pretending Saddam had WMD.

But there are, lest we forget, important differences. When Hitler was a young man he was willing to fight and risk his life for his country. Bush was not. Five years into his term of office, it's clear Bush has been a disaster for humanity. Five years into Hitler's rule, before he started the pogroms against the Jews and invaded his neighbours, he looked like he might have been a successful, if ruthless, leader. Imagine the damage Bush could do if he had 12 years in power like Hitler!

Bush is a boy scout compared to Hitler. That is not to say Bush is a great guy. I support intelligent criticism of our president, but comparing him to Hitler is not intelligent!

By comparing ANYTHING currently happening in the USA to the atrocities of Nazi Germany is to undermine the Hell of the concentrations camps, gas chambers and mass graves!

Even if Abu Ghraib was part of Bush's plan, the cruelty there paled in comparison to Auschwitz!

The liberals need to stick to facts. By making such ridiculous comparisons, they lose an opportunity to share REAL, VALID complaints against Bush.

That is easy..Hitler was a mass murderer of Jews while Bush brought a mass murderer, Saddam Hussien, of Shiities and Kurds to Justice not to mention the master mind behind the mass murder of 3000 Americans on 9/11. Remember Osama while the finacial driving force did not think of the attack, it was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.

so if you are trying to infer that Bush is similar to Hitler b/c you are listening to the main stream media who thrives on controversy, and making Americans fight against other Americans and pulling our nation apart instead of trying to pull us together you truly are sad, and you along with the media will eventually tear apart this great nation, and when youdo I hope I have lived my life and departed this earth..but for now I will continue to defend this great nation and be a part of the solution, instead of part of the problem

it is nice to see even some of the people who do not like Bush can answer this question and understand there is no comparison.

No. How can you compare him with Hitler?
Bush's an idiot. He is in holiday mood when his country got attacked, makes lousy policies that no one benefits from and doesn't even know how to write his own speeches!
But at least an idiot is still human. Hitler's a monster.

I think that the only valid comparison is in their tactics regarding political power. Both exploited the fear of their countries, seizing upon a weakness and blaming somebody for all the problems.

Both used that fear and weakness to gain ever-increasing control of the country, all in the name of protecting it from foreign threats. Both did so by ignoring the laws of the country, and bypassing the limits on executive power, in pursuit of their goal of being dictators.

Other than that goal, and the political means used, there is very little similarity in the actual actions performed. Except that both also used invasion and military force to pursue their goals, and both were reckless in ignoring the advice of military strategists by trying to fight wars on too many fronts simultaneously.

as much as i do not like Bush, Bush is not a dictator and Bush didn't kill millions of Jews and he was never been accused of war crimes. Bush and Hitler can never be compared

They can't dear. Bush might not be a shining star, but he's all American through and through. I don't care for his politics, but he acting in what he feels is best for the nation. I think he's going the wrong way, but he's no Nazi.
