For self-defense against noted, historical pirates/plunderers such as the US and British governments and their allies. Now, why do you think the US and Russia (that were asked more than 30 years ago to disarm by the UN, and are yet to disarm) own nuclear weapons? We have arms and nuclear crisis because of the USA, Russia and Israel. Please see:

so they can have the whole world hostage and they will be only ones thinking about themselves
nuclear weapons have no purpose
Bush thinks they are trophies he is going to get when he wins the war

They want it so that we won't just decide to "liberate" them also.
They know that if Iraq actually had WMDs we would never have "liberated" them. So, as long as they have some form of deterrent, we will not try to "liberate" them as we have done so in Iraq.
"Liberate" means the following:
Bomb, kill, invate, massacre, decimate, destroy.

look i am iranian and i know better our government told us we want nuclear power just for electericity
after day by day they change lectrue
it looks like a trick they approved of people but suddenly they reneged.

To get rid of Israel and the US. Their leader believes God has told him it's his job to bring about the end of days by ending the existence of the US and Israel.
