Hacksaws are made of hardened steel, usually alloys of molybdenum and other hard metals. There are lots of things that hack saws won't easily cut through, including the shackles on many locks. Someone once clamped a big Master padlock on the door handle of my car and a hacksaw wouldn't dent it. I had to go to a locksmith to take it off.

The blades are made of heat treated steel so the teeth are particularily hard. There are many steel alloys and ceramics that cannot be cut with the typical hardware store hacksaw blade.

hacksaw blades are made of carbon steel, high speed steel, or bi-metal alloy. they don't do good on hardened steel, stainless, etc.

the shell of the wild Hacknsaw, and they cannot cut through other hackinsaw shells!

basically high carbon
carbon is hard but tin will give it some elasticity.
carbon is hard but too brittle by its self
