Time isn't straight. The notion of time was invented by us, there is no clock in the center of the universe. The notion of time change with speed and gravity. The faster you go, the slower time is. Also, time is faster the closest you get to the center of the earth but not enough to be relevant.

I think you can stop or alter the motion but not the time. Time is a calculation which goes hand in hand with motion.
We use time, to measure where things were, are and will be. It's a measure of movement as regards to the position of the sun and the moon in our daily lives. Time doesn't go anywhere if you stop moving around. But things keep moving.
If we didn't use time (say we lived below the earths surface away from sunlight) and a person died, we wouldn't say he died today or yesterday. We'd just say they died.
It must've been the motion of sun and the moon which first made us aware. And to wonder how long before it became light again. Or when the moon was next full, so hunting was possible at night.

The person above was absolutely correct, time is a man made notion, and thus is only by governed by rules that we have invented, not by irrefutable natural laws.
However, there was one famous philosopher (and sorry, I forget his name!) who claimed that time travelled in an endless series of loops, like two S shapes facing one another. He claimed this from observing 'highs' and 'lows' in history - and pointed out that 'highs' seem to come along every 500 years - eg the year 1000, a general awakening in development across the world, 1500 the renaissance, 2000 - the technological revolution.
However, I think this is a load of rubbish. But an interesting and daring theory to expostulate!

Time only exists because we have something to measure it by and relate it to - such as; the movement of hands around a clock face, the phases of the moon and stars, the rotting of an apple, a sequence of thoughts, the birth and growth of a child.
If no matter existed, and all were empty space, then time would not exist - because there would be nothing to relate it to. In fact, empty space is complete non-existence.

its not even worth thinking about. End of the day you'll be sitting in your jimjams and slippers reflecting on how you've wasted so much time.

Time is a concept created by people. It isn't straight, or curved, or any other thing, it just is. There is nothing to "stop". It isn't something tangible, it's just a concept.

Why would time just suddenly stop. There's no scientific evidence to prove this is remotely possible.
