I called up Anne Davidson at Harley Davidson and she said around 500,000 in cash and assets.
It might be different now. That was several years ago, when I wanted to open a Harley Dealership and Accessories Store with a restaurant on the beach in the South Bay of Los Angeles. I was going to call it HarleyWood.

wrong forum to ask that, but I suspect you may start one with roughly $250,000 cash down payment and borrow the rest for monthly payments over time like a house payment only much larger. There are numerous creative financing options. However, HD may not want a franchise in your area if they believe they have your market covered or unless you buy it outright for cash. The only way to find out is contact HD.

The most accurate answer would come from the company. I imagine that franchises in prime locations are more expensive than those in more rural, less populated areas. So contact HD directly and ask for information on their franchises.

Just call Willey G. Davidson and ask him.
You must be in an area that he wants a dealer and that their are no others in your area first.
I was told $600k, and decided that I could open 25 Subways for that.
