I have never known anybody in my family to be anything other than straight. As far as I know, im the only gay person within my family. I have always had a strong relationship with my mum but i guess when i told her it did kinda strengthen, at least we were able to sit down in a mall or wherever to check out the boys! haha! even my Nana joins in too! She LOVES it! hehe! My family is pretty open minded, which is fantastic, open to new ideas and everything. it helps out a lot and has definatly made things easier for both my partner and myself!

My family is really conservative about this issue. But, that I know of, I have a male and a girl cousin who are gay but I'm not very close to them. The girl denied it and got married and has a kid. The guy is just totally out but I don't know him that well. And, I think also an aunt is a lesbian, she's like 55, not married with no kids...so, I don't know.

Hey so you mom's a lesbian, huh? How was it growing up for you? I ask because I have a baby boy and I'd like to know a little bit more about children growing up in a gay household. E-mail me if you'd like to share. Thanks :)

I think that's wonderful... you are very fortunate!

I grew up in a very conservative and very Catholic household... I didn't even hear the WORD lesbian until I was in college. (I'm old, so this is pre-internet.)

I wish I had known someone, anyone else who was going through what I was going through... it would have helped a lot.

So, when people ask me questions about the topic of homosexuality now, in relation to themselves or friends or family members, I try to help out... it's always good to have someone to talk to!

interestingly, I happen to think that my first cousin is also a gay boy; but we all know how perilous the error of THINKING someone is gay;
so...
we look a lot alike and we even talk the same. its scary.
But yeah, I was fortunate to have a big protective circle of gay friends. Cheers to Justin, Drew, Kiel, Alex, JP, and Quill!

no others that I know of
I didn't meet anyone that I knew was gay until I was 25
I agree I think things would have been easier had I known someone or had a relative that was also gay

You are so very lucky.
I do have an Uncle that is gay. Unfortunately we were never close so I didn't get much help from him anyways.

well, you are lucky to have someone in your family that is gay so you aren't "alone." to my knowledge, there is no one else in my family that is gay/lesbian (at least not openly so..), so it was a long time before I actually came out to them (and they are totally cool and accepting)
