Condoms are 70% less effective than what?
They're about 90% more effective for birth control than not using anything. And about 90% more effective for preventing disease than not using anything.
And, even if they're *only* 70% more effective, isn't that still better than nothing?

70% less protective than what?
about the only thing more protective that the right condom used correctly is abstinence
abstinence is by far the best most effective birth control technique and the most protective from STD's
I recommend it
if everybody had sexual relations with just one person througout their whole life, AIDS and most STD's would be gone in a generation

When I was a corpsman in the Navy, we were told that wearing a condom to protect yourself from AIDS was like putting a gauze pad in front of a freight train.

It is around 90% effective. The other 10% is because of a tiny hole in the condom too small to even see, or the condom breaking, etc.
