And if so, do you recommend another brand?

I have some blackheads I want to remove, but they're not super-close to the surface (so i wouldn't use an "extractor") and I don't want to damage the skin and/or scar...

why dont you just duct tape on your face! the only way to get rid of black heads is (in this order) steam well, using a rag squeeze gently and use warm water and any acne medication you have. do this for about a few weeks and they should clear up and dont let oil build up and it should stay away.

If you have sensitive skin, you may not want to use them. I personally have no problems with them other than I itch like mad while the strip dries. And make sure you let it dry all the way or you will be left with some adhesive stuck to your skin that you'll have to scrape off.

I have had no problems with pore strips. The most it does is after you pull it off your nose, there is a sticky residue left behind. Just wash that off with a washcloth and you'll be fine.

Honestly, none of those really work. It won't damage the skin, and your pores might look smaller for a few hours, but that's it.
