Depends on who was saying it. I hate american football and love soccer. I personally think that football is for guys who like to touch each other and tackle people for no apparent reason. It is a pointless game.
I often say "Football sucks unless you're in Europe".
So if you asked me in your British accent (rock on) about football, I'd probably assume you were talking about soccer...unless you were asking about american football...
Okay maybe I would get confused.

Hopefully the context of the word would make it clear which form of Football you're talking about. Some folks will be idiots and purposely get confused just cause it's not their Football.
