you need an Icon creation program, there is a free on out there not to bad, you can't do fancy stuff but it works ,it's from Pixeltoolbox

Right click on the icon you want to change
click on properties at the bottom
Click on the Customize tab at the top
At the bottom, FOLDER ICONS click change icon
scroll through the icons and pick one you want, click on it
click ok
then click apply
your done

On the desktop? If so, just opposite click on the desktop and select NEW, SHORTCUT. Then give the location/destination (url or exe) and name it.

u paint a pic or bring anyone and save it as! then u put at the end of the name .ico for example u save a picture as and name it car.ico
