i'm kinda shy and it's hard for me to meet new people. do you have any ideas?

Get arrested and thrown in the drunk tank overnight. you'll meet policemen, lawyers and a whole strata of society all for the price of a few drinks.
Failing that, pick the fashionable charity in your area and take on an active role. This can also be a very good career move.

Depends on what your interests are.
If you like theatre join a theatre group, you don't have to act, there are so many things to do eg. Make up, lights etc.
If you like being outdoors, join a walking club.
Get the idea??
This way you will meet many many people and learn things along the way.
I wouldn't advise meeting people in shopping centres or on trains etc because I think that could be really dangerous.
I hope you meet and make many friends.

Get involved in local community activities- book Clubs, coffee shops, volunteer work, libraries, etc. Also, college campuses are a great opportunity for meeting people- you could look into what clubs they have. My college has clubs that range everywhere from religion, to sky diving, to running, to chinese caligraphy, horse back riding... the possibilities are endless.

Walk up to people and say hello and start talking. The only way to get past shyness is to forcfully make yourself talk to people. itll feel awkward and but after about 20 people youll start to feel better.

Join a club or an activity group. From the start you will have something in common and then you can build your freindship from that.

If you want to meet new people on-line, you should go to yahoo domino's. Everyone there so friendly, its UN-believable! If your talking about face to face, just say, hey, how you doing, my name is_______. And let the conversation roll. Oh. And be yourself!

u could try and go to singles clubs as they will be in the same boat as u, or u could look on the net for any hobby clubs that u think you would enjoy.good luck

just start talking to people everywhere...in line at the store, the clerk behind the counter...people love to talk about themselves so start there...ask a question about them!
