Does anyone know how to find the value of old postage stamps?

There is an excellent article (much more detail than I can put in an answer here) at http://www.virtualstampclub.com/inherit.html - and it doesn't matter if you did not inherit them!

The true value of stamps is not in the money you can get for them, however - they are art and history and sociology and language and much more. They can be more interesting than anyone other than stamps collectors ever realized!!
