I have a 9 month old son who's very busy and toys interest him for maybe 5 minutes then it's onto something new- any ideas from parents on activities/things they've done to keep their babies busy?

(ie..pots and pans....magazines to rip up...??)

I gave my daughter all the ads from the paper when she was that age to tear up! Also, she loved kleenex. You can make a reusable tissue box by cutting up scraps of fabric.

If you have some blocks (soft are best still) you can play a game we call Blocks go Boom. Stack them up, let him knock them down. And make funny sound effects. I would always make the stack at least four feet away so the baby has to scoot across the room a bit.

I would also get him some musical instruments, like a tambourine. Target has some nice stuff in their toy section and the little tykes music set is pretty good too.

A shape sorter is a good toy too.

Get out a clean bedsheet and spread it out on the floor and pour some uncooked rice on in the middle of it. Give him some cups and maybe a wooden spoon and let him "dig around" in it like sand.

Get him age appropriate toys, puzzles, blocks, balls, shape sorters, crawl thru tents, things he has to work at/for as oppose to things that just sit there.
Try not to entertain him yourself let him find his way with his things.
