Personally I think it should be along with gambling and marijuana.
I'm not particularly interested in any of those activities. However, I have a philosophical problem with our government trying to legislate morality.

I don't believe a business transaction between consenting adults should be illegal in anyform except where fraud or intent to harm is intended.
Prostitution for all intent and purpose does no harm, except perhaps in the transmission of disease. It's my belief if prostitution or drug trafficking were regulated and taxed the spread of disease could be substantially reduced. Also tax revenues from said profits could go toward treatment.
The nanny state crowd claim we have to protect people from themselves, they claim it violates some sense of morality (Thuss blue laws).. I don't buy that. Women who choose prostitution as a profession do so for a variety of reason, not the least of which it is very good money for someone with little education or talent.

Because there's really no way for the government to tax it and if they can't make money off of it, then it stay illegal. However, prostitution is legal in Nevada, under the conditions that it occurs within licensed brothels and as long as those engaged in the activity meet state licensing requirements and abide by state laws that require condom use and weekly medical checkups.

You have to understand that if we legalize prostitution many things could occur. A control on sex is a control on diseases being passed on. In the porn industry, there was a scare when they found out that 3 of thier "co-workers" had AIDS. The government and CDC halted film making for 3 months pending an investigation. If we allow prostitution to be legal, your mom, dad, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, friends, co-workers, son and daughter, may eventually get sick. Who do you know, has ever told you that they bought or sold sex from someone else. NO ONE. so we must control prostitution.

prostitution is hard to regulate and further more most people would not make as much money as they are doing right now because it would become too common .it just like the higglers most of them aren`t making any money because there are too many sellers and not enough buyers. imagine if you could go on any corner of any street at any time and pick up any girl how boring that would be instead of playing cat and mouse think about it .

It will be difficult for the goverment to control and tax that money. Healt care for prostitutes, insurance, CEO or managers will be needed (pimps). They will have to create a whole new legal system for the administration of prostitution.
Personally I think they should try.

It's legal in some counties in Nevada. There are several not too far from my house. One is just 20 miles away. The gorgeous, slinky, delicious, twenty-something brunette I was chatting up started at $1000 an hour. I just laughed in her face and walked out...

Well if you didnt know, it is legal in a state in america. cant remember wich one it is though. The people who want to do it have to go for a health inspection for anything bad (aids) and once they are approved, they recieve a prostitute licence!! really its just like a drivers licence. Saw it on documentary.

It already is legal in some parts of the world (and U.S.). The reason it should be legalized is that it would protect against spread of sexually transmitted diseases, income would be taxed, prostitutes would have some measure of legal protection.
