You can break the name down:

2-methyl means that there's a methyl group (-CH3) on the second carbon.

buta- means that the core molecule is butane (C4).

1,3 diene tells you that there are double bonds (-ene) that there are two of them (di-) and their locations on the core molecule (off carbon 1 and 3).

So the molecule looks like this:

.............H............H..........
................\........./..............
.H..............C.=.C...............
....\.........../.........\..............
.....C.=. C............H..........
..../...........\..........................
.H..............CH3.................

Hope that helps!

The main part of the compound is a 4-carbon chain (buta). The 1,3 diene means that there is a double bond between the first and second carbons, and the third and fourth carbons. 2-methyl means that there is a CH3 group attached to the second carbon.

It all according to the IUPAC naming convention

Although measures and precautions are taken to prevent pollution, it is impossible to contain it all 100%. One such pollutant is what is called "coke dust" which is a very fine dust, black in color, easily noticed if you happen to drive a white car. It is a byproduct of the refining process. In addition to air pollutants, what the public does not see is stuff that is spilled all over the ground on an almost daily basis.
