If you want a live game in a nice enviroment you can't do better than the Victoria casino on Edgeware Rd, London. Tel 0207 262 7777
If you've never played live before the staff will take time with you and explain the rules. You'll be able to play in comfort without having to worry about more experienced players cheating you, unlike other London poker clubs.
Membership is free and you only need proof of I.D and address on first visit. There is underground parking and the cardroom opens at 2pm until 5am
As for South London there are private games, but for very high stakes and invitation only

alright mate, im from south london too, and i go on this website called triplejack.com it was recommended to me and i can honestly say its awesome man, there is only one problem i think the site is based in phillipines so there is alot of foreign chatting involved, saying that many of the players do speak english and theres lots of brits on the site too.
also it has some crazy animations where you can throw pies or anvils, yes anvils at your opponents, hilarious mate
