Just multiply 144 by 12 to get 1728 oz. Now divide 1728 by 16 oz/lb to get 108 lb for the answer. I think that is 2nd or 3rd grade arithmetic. Does it sound familiar now?

it depends on whether the 12 oz is the weight of the entire can or just the contents and whether you are looking for the weight of the fruit or the gross of cans of fruit.

144 cans times 12 ounces equals 1,728 ounces. 1,728 ounces divided by 16 (ounces in a pound) equals 108 pounds.
