It's that crazy sport from the Winter Olympics where they slide these weights along the ice and try and hit a target, while other people polish the ice with brooms.

Each to their own.

Curling is a winter sport where they push a big smooth rock down an ice bowling ring and try to get the rock closest to the middle of the target on the other end. The team mates use brooms on the ice to direct the rock without touching it. It is an olympic sport you know - Canada won the gold in the last winter olympics.
This is the best I can describe the sport - I've never played and I've only seen it on TV - it's pretty boring actually.

Curling is a wintersport played on ice, it is comparable with bowling. It is a precision team sport played on a rectangular sheet of prepared ice by two teams of four players each, using heavy polished granite stones which they slide down the ice towards a target area called the house. Points are scored for the number of stones that a team has closer to the center of the target than the closest of the other team's stones. The level of precision and complex nature of the strategic thinking required to win has led curling to be referred to as "chess on ice".

Curling is one of the coolest sports i have ever seen, and I am from america. Curling was created in Britian by throwing 42lb granite stones on ice and trying to score points in the house. 90% of the worlds best curlers are in Canada.

it is a sport that is somewhat like shuffleboard or lawn bowling but played on the ice. Teams slide large polished rocks down a lane of ice (like a bowling lane but no gutter) to a target at the other end. Subsequent slides by each team are used to knock the other teams rocks off the target and out of play. While the rock slides down the ice, other team memebers scrub the ice in front of the sliding rock to make it go faster, slower, or turn.
