Humans have always liked to be entertained and told stories, and TV was initially a way to bring home a visual story. TV is the evolved version of a play, really. What it has become is so much more; educator, slanderous, inspiring, shameful. Humans want to connect on all levels and the TV is the means in which to visualize the story. Yes, there is a lot of crappy programming out there, and it has on some levels desensitized us, but overall, if you're an informed viewer and can make decisions about what is fact and fiction, it is a wonderful medium to communicate. So chew up and blow a bubble.

I get enjoyment from chewing gum.

I got rid of the tell-u-vision years ago. I now have much more free time and my quality of life has increased. I also don't have as many cravings to buy stuff.

It depends on what you watch? i mean, if you choose to watch nothing but soap opera's, and daytime chatshows like jerry springer, the chances are you arn't going to enrich your life that much. However there are some programs that are educational and enriching to watch. That aside, sometimes people find it helpful to relax in front of the tv and watch nonsense that doesnt require you to think too much?

Really, that depends on what your spending your time watching. does it engage you, make you think, or will watching it have no effect on you other than 30 minutes of your life that you will never get back.
