Adult Speech?

Why do so many adults around here "speak" like teenagers?
Example: I dont know wut Im gonna do 'bout my man cuz he b cheatin' on me wit mah homegirl, but I luv him like krazie.


Seriously. Why?

For those who asked if I knew the people who spoke that way were adults or not... I was referring only to posts I had read in which the poster stated he/she was an adult.

Also: What does this question have to do with me being some racist? Considering I am white and live with a black man (my bf), that's a little off since I moved across the COUNTRY for him! If I was just looking for some "dark meat", I would have stayed local and near my family.

good question you would figure if they were adults they would speak like adults but I guess they are not well educated!!

Once upon a time, the "lower classes" strove to be more like the upper classes. If finances were a problem, then upper class speech patterns could be imitated at the very least. People were ashamed of bad grammar or syntax and consciously worked to improve.

Now, however, the "lower classes" (of every race) have become a fashion trend. The attire, the speech patterns, and the slovenly lifestyles that lead to gang death or repeated pain from the choices that lead one to choose cheating partners have all taken on an allure that I am at a loss to explain. If one is actually from a lower income area or family, one still has no excuse because no child is supposed to be left behind. We are all taught the same language, the same grammar, the same capitalization and punctuation rules, the same spelling lessons.

I can only hypothesize that, much like my generation imitated the daughter of the late Czech Minister of Music, current generations find that speaking and writing in this manner make them feel hip, trendy, or "with it" in a way that proper speech and writing patterns do not. In addition, it is possible that they find it faster, though I would spend MORE time trying to figure out a shorter way to write the word than I would if I wrote it properly. As for myself, I hope it's a trend, cuz it's, like, grody to the max. Gag me with a spoon, fer shure. ;-)

(Interesting how many of you assumed that the questioner was being disrespectful of a certain race, when she did not actually mention any race at all. And I personally can name an equal number of persons of every race who speak EXACTLY like her example. Peace, love and understanding, people. It's all that separates us from the animals.)

Maybe they don't know any better...or they hate to type the real word and use the "wut, cuz, b," etc. I use more slang than I would like because at my job I work with a lot of teenagers. Or maybe they're not adults, just kids.
