I need to formulate research questions, finding anwsers to the questions. How to synthesize their results and present these results to an audience. I need to choose, adapt, and restrict the focus of a topic to clarify it according to its purpose and goals. I have no idea where to start, If you have any ideas I would appreciate it.

Write a research paper on the philosophy of music. Talk about how many different types of music there are, how it affects peoples' lives, how it is universal, etc. I think it would be interesting to see the history of music, its philosophical power in terms of how it affects ideals, and how it is relied upon. There is definitely enough material out there for 10 pages.

Which of the arts do you love? Dance? Music? Theater? Musical theater? Painting? Film? Sculpture?

Do you have a question about any of these arts that has arisen to bug you now and then?

Once I did a paper about this question: why do some gay men love musical theater? There are few books about it, but I did find a couple of books and a very valuable online source, and I did more research and came up with a credible theory.

Start with an art form, or an artist, that you love, and ask yourself questions about that art form or that artist.

Here's a good one: what's a good way to adapt a novel or short story into a play or musical play or opera?

What do you mean by the arts? (just like the other reply).

Once you have narrowed down your subject, you can go from there. You can select a "topic" and write about it in relation to the arts (politics, for example). How are politics reflected in the arts? You can narrow your topic even further by selecting issues like the Vietnam War or the War in Iraq. Or, local issues like poverty and women's rights. How are these issues reflected in the arts?

Then, you start on your questions that you have listed above.
It's a big task, but, you can do it!

arts? what exactly about arts? if you can be more specific we can be of more help..

You might think about the effects of art patrons in art. this idea haunts me after i read&watched The Girl with a Pearl Earring - a glimpse from the life of the famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. You are familiar with the concept of artists being commissioned by kings, other statesmen, high government officials, popes, cardinals, wealthy businessmen all through centuries. if they acted differently - i.e. if they havent patronised artists (all ranging from the great master Michelangelo being commissioned by the Pope himself down to the least famous artist) or have patronised it in a different way, how would art be today?
