First you need to see if your computer has a 1394 connection, looks a little like a USB port. If so, you need to go and buy the cable called firewire, will say on package 1394. If not you will need to buy a card for your computer and install it first. Then just pug in your camcorder to computer and use either the software that came with the camcorder, or I prefer Roxio. The software may auto start when it detects your camcorder. All of this info of course is if your camcorder itself has the capability. I have a JVC and next to where I charge it, it says DV.
