You should talk to your dietician or doctor but what you are looking for is a mild diarhetic like flax seed which doubles as a way of lowering your cholesterol. They may also suggest that you increase you sodium intake and decrease your sugar and caffiene intake. A different diet will have your metabolism working better.

From my readings about insulin and blood sugar, I understand that estrogen helps keep insulin production level. As estrogen fades, as part of the menstrual cycle, insulin increases - putting food and water in cells - causing bloating.

In future, keep insulin production to a minimum and it will not only minimize bloating, but will help PMS symptoms decrease, and lessen menstrual cramp pain. How to do this? Check out www.hufa.org and check the low blood sugar link. This article has info that may help level your insulin by leveling your blood sugar.
