don't try to do parentheses from left to right;
instead, work from the inside out:
2[12-(6-4)]2
= 2 * [12-(2)]2
= 2 * [10]2
= 2 * 100
= 200

Six minus 4 = 2
Then square the 2..and that gives you 4
12 - 4 = 8
then 2 times 8 = 16...
it's been a while...but I think that's right

always start with what is inside the parentheses, work your way out. If you are inside parenteses inside parentheses, start with tht most deeply imbedded and work your way out
