What does this game do to us!?

Chess makes us realize there are rules to follow and, as in life, certain actions will beget certain reactions - game play.

The game also causes us to look at things that we might otherwise feel are beyond our control - the opponent.

It also allows us to understand that sacrifice is a necessary evil - we win the game, but at some price.

Good Q!! I liked it!

I'm a psychology student and I think I'm a pretty smart guy. And I know that chess is considered a thinkers game. But I always found chess very boring. I prefer video games because they give visual and new ones come out all the time. When was the last time new chess came out? Maybe I have an attention deficit problem.

I think the fact that you have to plan and strategise so much when playing guess means that when you eventually do win you feel that you've really earned it and get a real sense of achievement out of it, you feel like you accomplished something and it's like if you're good you're good, a better player than you will always win, there are rarely any fluke wins it's just a great game.

Strategy!!

Knowing your brain can think seven moves ahead and grasp your opponents three possible moves to each of your seven and anticipate which they will choose in response to your move knowing full well they are so busy thinking about how to save a pawn that they can't even see how set up they are-
and they suck and you win and-
