Aphrodite Jones (and brainstorm) are absolutely correct. The song was a huge hit for Mary Hopkin back in '68...I believe it went as high as No. 2.
Here are the lyrics..
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Those were the Days was recorded by Mary Hopkin in 1968
The song sung by Archie and Edith is a different song. Same music but different lyrics. And the same title.

It's an old Ukrainian or Russian folk song. The Mary Hopkin version is famous over here in Blighty.
I believe the one from the TV show is a different song that has the same name.

OK... just check this is R&S... all good (That was scary) If you're reffering to the Egyptian Horus... it was a guy... You can use the inscribed symbol of his Eye to ward off minor evil. EDIT: Eh... I sort of prefer the sound of Atla, the Norse water goddess, or even Sol, the Norse god of the Sun from which our own star gets it's name. But my personal favourite is Lucetia, the Mother of Light in the Sabine religion (((Olga)))

Oh wow a trip down memory lane......Archie and Edith Bunker sang that song while she played the piano. They would look at one another at the end of the song and Edith would smile so big.
Those two are the only two I have ever heard sing that song. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.....
