Your elective classes are a great start, since you already know you have some interest in common.
Your mandatory freshman classes will have more people you're less likely to get along with, but on the other hand have even more venues for attempting to gauge your compatibility (complain about the reading or homework assignment and see who sympathizes and in what ways).
