Ok so I brought my personal home computer up to work to use until the work computer gets fixed (virus). I wanted to know if there is anyway I can ensure that my personal info isn't shared by anyone that gets on (like have an administrator login and then a different login for anyone who doesn't know the pasword)? I know you can because one of our computers is like that (if you don't know the password you can't log in certain ones). Thanks!!

I have Windows XP and know nothing about setting up users (I want to be able to allow people to get on the computer when I'm not there - just not my personal "user")

Well it depends on which version of version your running ( im assuming your using windows). But the basic thing to do click start, settings, control panel. down near the bottom of the control panel you shoulod see an icon with the name users. click on that and set you username and passowrds how you like. (you can also get to the control panel by clicking my computer)

good luck and i hope you have your personal info stays safe.

Go into the control panel
Click on the user icon
You can set up a new user account for the people at work
Do NOT make the account an administrator
Go to your own account and set a password if you do not have one
Now when they are logged in with the new account they will not be able to get in anything in your "My Documents" folder.

With Windows XP you have the option to create accounts that then show up in the Welcome screen. If you don't add a password at the time that you create the account anytime you click on that user it will automatically log you onto the machine.

A word of caution however, if you don't want someone to get into your personal folders make sure to set them up as a User and not a Power User or Administrator.
