Your PC should have a rudimentary word processing program called WordPad built into Windows (if that's what you're running). It is in Start > Programs > Accessories.

You can also download a complete free Office clone called OpenOffice. Look it up.

If you are running Windows, you should have a small program called Notepad on your system. Go to "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "Notepad" -- see if that will do what you want. Make sure to turn "Format" to WordWrap and you can set your font, etc. It should at least give you enough basics to get a simple letter done.

If you are in Mac, I'm afraid I can't give you detailed instructions, but I know they have something very similar -- I just don't know exactly where to find it .
